KIMBERLY, Wisc. (WFRV/CNN Newsource) – Three parents videotaped grappling at a youth wrestling tournament have been cited according to the Fox Valley Metro Police Department.
This decision comes days after the video of the adults fighting surfaced on social media. Cellphone video of the event was posted online and viewed nearly two million times before it was taken down.
According to the Fox Valley Metro Police Department, officers were called at approximately 2:30 pm on Feb. 3 to Kimberly High School, where the wrestling tournament was taking place.
“You go to Packers games, you see it a lot. But it’s, you know, turning into a physical altercation between parents at this level, I think, is pretty rare,” Lt. Mark Wery of the Fox Valley Metro Police Department said.
By the time officers arrived, the fighting had ended.
“After conducting an initial investigation, it was determined that some parents who attended an athletic event were involved in a verbal/ and physical altercation,” Wery said.
Lt. Wery stated municipal citations were issued to the following:
- Cassandra Hamill, 33, of Green Bay, WI for disorderly conduct
- Shannon Volkman, 39, of Shiocton, WI, for disorderly conduct and battery
- Nicole Volkma, 33, of Shiocton, WI, for disorderly conduct and battery.
Fox Valley Metro Police Department stated, “The tournament in which this incident occurred during is organized through a local youth wrestling club and has no affiliation with the Kimberly Area School District.”
