EAU CLAIRE, WI (WNCN) – A total of seven tractor-trailers and 33 cars were involved in a pileup that closed Interstate-94 in Wisconsin on Sunday.
The Wisconsin State Highway Patrol said collisions occurred around 3:15 p.m. on both sides of the interstate near mile marker 85 in Eau Claire County.
A total of seven people were hurt – one of them suffered life-threatening injuries, the Highway Patrol said.
While the collisions remain under investigation, the Highway Patrol urges drivers to be careful.
“Caution is recommended as the snow is creating slippery road conditions,” the Highway Patrol said.
A winter weather advisory was in place for western Wisconsin as snow was expected to fall in the area – some areas were forecast to receive six inches.
The temperatures hovered in the teens around the time of the collisions.
