AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) — A man was arrested Wednesday after Transportation Security Administration agents discovered a semiautomatic handgun in his possession as he was making his way through the security checkpoint at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, according to Austin police.

TSA agents say they stopped the suspect, 63-year-old Ricky Tumlinson, after they saw what they believed to be a handgun on the x-ray machine, and law enforcement was requested to search the bag.

A semiautomatic 9 mm Makarov handgun was found inside Tumlinson’s bag, according to the responding police officer. Officials also found a loaded magazine in the gun and another loaded magazine in the holster.

Police say that Tumlinson admitted the gun was his but claimed he forgot it was in his bag. He was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon in a prohibited area and his bail was set at $3,000.
