Woman’s dog found dead in suitcase after friend stole him, she says

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) — A California dog owner says her dog was found dead in a suitcase on a San Francisco street corner.

She says her friend stole the pup almost two months and she feels completely lost and heartbroken knowing she will never see him again.

The puppy’s name was London.

His owner found him about a year ago in Vallejo and says they’ve never been without each other until her friend stole him in February.

“He was everything I could ever ask for, honestly,” dog owner Tran Nguyen said. “I’m not going to be able to wake up in the mornings without being able to see his face.”

Nguyen, in tears, is devastated that her dog was found dead in a suitcase in San Francisco, after weeks of trying to get him back from a friend who she says stole him.

“I let him know if I’m not going to get my dog back, I’m going to authorities and the very next day he was found on Mason and Bay Street in a suitcase,” Nguyen said.

Tran says she found her dog London in Vallejo last May.

When she became homeless in February, a friend told her she and London could stay with him.

The friend let London in his place, but wouldn’t let Tran inside and said she’d have to pay him $2,000 to get her dog back.

“He told me to come pick up my dog and he was just playing around, didn’t let me pick up the dog. He said I need to hurry up and pay him his money for the dog,” she said.

Tran filed a police report on Tuesday — weeks after he was initially stolen.

London was found on Wednesday on the corner of Bay and Mason Streets.

Animal control told her it appeared he’d been dead for about a week.

“I feel so lost without him, honestly,” she said.
