RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Millions of Americans turned to social media during the 2020 election, January 6, and during the pandemic.

But platforms like Facebook continue to be used to spread false information.

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein has argued that social media companies need to be better regulated and held accountable.

Misinformation has led to civil unrest and is blamed for putting lives at risk.

Stein sat down with CBS 17’s Russ Bowen to talk about what he believes the solution is and what he plans to do about it.
