SURF CITY, N.C. (WNCN) — It’s been four months since Hurricane Florence hit North Carolina and some towns aren’t done with the recovery process.

At Surf City, about 30 miles up the coast from Wilmington, rebuilding is still underway.

Many of the town’s beaches are still blocked off and some business owners haven’t been able to re-open.

“I don’t want people to leave. It’s a great place to live. I love it. I’ve lived here my whole life,” one resident said while he was along the beach last week.

The town council met Friday to put a rebuilding plan into action so beachfront businesses and properties can eventually thrive again.
