A driver’s license check point in Pitt County April 5 ended with the arrest of a fugitive wanted on multiple felony counts.
Lt. Head with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol joined together for the checkpoint on Highway 33 West near the U.S. 264 overpass.
Officials say 32-year-old Erica Shante Reviere drove through the checkpoint, but could not produce a valid driver’s license. Deputies also smelled marijuana coming from her car.
Further investigation showed she had arrest warrants from North and South Carolina for human trafficking of a child victim and promoting prostitution of a minor.
Deputies also discovered about a gram of cocaine in Reviere’s car.
Reviere is now in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $265,000 bond. She will make her first court appearance Monday.
