A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies said he obtained $3,500 for a roof job that was not completed.

Jeffrey W. McLawhorn Jr. was charged with obtaining property by false pretense.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested McLawhorn after a report of a fraudulent activity.

Deputies said that McLawhorn received approximately $3,500 for a roof job that was not completed.

The money he collected was to purchase materials for the job, deputies said.

The job was not started or completed and deputies issued an arrest warrant on McLawhorn.

Deputies believe there may be more victims.

He was given a $5,000 bond.
