ASHEBORO, N.C. (WFMY) — A big step was made in a six-year-old cold case as a Lexington man was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend.
Roger Martin was arrested Monday in connection with the death of Nova ‘Nikki’ Robinson, who was found dead from apparent stab wounds on January 28, 2013, in Asheboro.
Asheboro Police say Martin was there when they arrived at a Cherokee Street home and found Robinson lying in blood.
Martin, Robinson’s girlfriend at the time, called 911 around 6 p.m. and told the operator his girlfriend was dead.
Martin was interviewed several times during the investigation. Police say there were many questions he couldn’t give logical responses to.
DNA testing allowed detectives to solve the open questions they had, officials said.
In a release sent Tuesday, Asheboro Police said “We are completely satisfied without question that Roger Martin killed his then-girlfriend Nova ‘Nikki’ Robinson.”
Martin, 41, was arrested at a Lexington home with help from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
Robinson was 31 years old.
