NC man sustains injuries after his van explodes

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WNCN) — A Robeson County man sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital after his van exploded, authorities say. 

Deputies in Robeson County say at 6:55 a.m. on May 2, they responded to the 1080 block of Oakland Road in St. Pauls in reference to an explosion.

Upon arrival, deputies found Victor Vargas, 33, suffering from injuries after his 2005 Chevrolet Express Van exploded. The explosion caused damages to Vargas’ residence and his neighbor’s properties. 

Vargas was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and is listed in stable condition, deputies said in a release. 

The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, pending an investigation.
