NC motorcyclist dies in crash as car merges onto highway, police say

 Police say a Greensboro motorcyclist died after an accident with a car on Saturday morning.

The crash happened on U.S. 29 near Cone Boulevard in Greensboro around 7 a.m.

Eric Dalton, 45, of Greensboro died at the scene, according to police.

Dalton and the car collided as the car’s driver merged on to the roadway.

The incident shut down traffic in the area for more than four hours.

The car’s driver, Charles Whitfield, 49, was transported to a hospital for injuries.

This investigation is ongoing. Witnesses of the crash are asked to contact the Greensboro Police Department at (336) 373-1000.
