NC registered sex offender accused of additional sex crimes with minor

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A registered sex offender is accused of additional sex crimes involving a minor.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has charged Lowell Curtis Alsbury, 37, with indecent liberties with a child and two counts of first-degree sexual offense.

An arrest warrant states the incidents took place between Nov. 27, 2014, and Nov. 27, 2015.

At the time he was booked on the latest charges, Alsbury was already in prison after being convicted of child abuse inflicting serious injury in November 2018. At the time of his arrest in August 2017, the sheriff’s office said his two-month-old infant suffered a broken arm.

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety website, he was previously convicted of two counts of indecent liberties involving a 7-year-old victim in 2013.

In August 2016, Alsbury was convicted of violating sex offender requirements by being on a child premises.
