NC teacher charged with student sex crimes

DAVIE, N.C. (WFMY) — A Davie County High School teacher has been charged in connection with having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Jessica Welch Greene has been suspended from her duties at the school without pay.

It all stems from an investigation after the school system contacted the Davie County Sheriff’s Office to report an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Investigators said Greene had sexual contact with the student both on and off campus between November 1 and the first week of December.

Greene has been charged with three counts of sexual activity with a student and was placed in the Davie County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.

The school system released the following statement:“The safety of all of our students continues to be a top priority, and we will continue to partner with parents, our community, and law enforcement to maintain a safe teaching and learning environment for the students we serve. Parents will be notified via School Messenger this evening.”
