NC teen girl dies in crash after driver flips car, hits tree

GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A young North Carolina woman is dead after a driver flipped a car and hit a tree in Grayson County. 

According to Virginia State Police, 19-year-old Kimberly Rector, of North Carolina, was a passenger riding on Delhart Road on Friday when the driver went off the right side of the road and overturned before hitting the tree. 

Clinton McDonald, 23, of North Carolina, was driving the vehicle and was not injured in the crash. 

Rector was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, but later died as a result of her injuries. 

Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. 

McDonald is charged with reckless driving for failure to maintain control.
