A toddler is still in critical condition after two SUVs collided head-on Friday afternoon just west of Greenville, officials say.

Around 2 p.m. Nelson Cook Jr. was heading west on Stantonsburg Road near Stocks Lane in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to officials.

Meanwhile, Damesha Barrett along with Destiny Griggs and a toddler were traveling east in a GMC Terrian when the crash took place.

The crash closed both directions of traffic.

All four were transported to Vidant Medical Center. The North Carolina State Trooper who is in charge of the investigation said the toddler was still in critical condition as of Saturday.

No one has been charged with the crash still under investigation.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol plans to go back to the scene this week to further their investigation.
