WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) – A Columbus County woman was arrested after allegedly pulling a shotgun on a school bus driver Friday morning.

According to Michelle Tatum with the sheriff’s office, the incident happened near Newman’s Grocery in the 5500 block of Joe Brown Highway North in Whiteville.

Tatum said a school bus carrying two students was stopped across from the store when Elisha Shamae Colson, 31, of Whiteville, approached the bus and pulled out a shotgun. Colson allegedly pointed the gun at the driver and threatened them.

The bus driver drove away to protect the students, who were unharmed during the incident. Colson never boarded the bus.

Deputies arrested Colson and charged her with possession of a stolen firearm. She was also served three outstanding warrants not related to Friday morning’s incident.

Tatum said more charges are expected.
