HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA/WNCN) – Access to dozens of homes was blocked by a landslide in Henderson County Tuesday.
According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, the landslide happened on Big Hungry Road just past the steel bridge.
Dana Fire Department and deputies were sent to the scene.
NC DOT crews were also at the scene and officials said they should have one lane open for local access in four to six hours.
The latest slide is the at least the third in North Carolina mountains to block roads since Friday. One major mudslide has completely blocked Interstate 40 near Tennessee until Saturday.
Another slide blocked U.S. 74, a four-lane highway in Jackson County near the Haywood County line.
