2 men injure each other in shootout inside NC mall near Charlotte, police say

PINEVILLE, N.C. (AP/WNCN) – Police say two men who shot each other in a confrontation at a North Carolina shopping mall are facing criminal charges.

Pineville Police said Sunday they have charged both 32-year-old Kevion Harris and 24-year-old Jamie G’Vantay Williams with assault with a deadly weapon and firearms possession by a convicted felon.

Police evacuated the Carolina Place Mall Saturday afternoon when the shooting broke out. Both men were injured, and police said Sunday they are recovering from their injuries at hospitals.

The shooting was reported around 4:45 p.m. Saturday near the food court.

A person inside the mall at the time of the shooting said he heard “seven or eight rounds” fired near the food court. There was trash and some abandoned shoes visible on the ground outside the exit for the food court.

The injuries to Harris and Williams are not considered life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.
