MILL SPRING, N.C. (WSPA) - The Tryon International Equestrian Center has been fined over $64,000 for water quality violations, according to the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.
According to the agency's findings, work on the Tryon International Equestrian Center caused sediment to flow into nearby streams.
For the eight violations, Tryon Equestrian Partners, LLC was fined $63,600 plus $836.55 for investigative costs by the agency.
Tryon Equestrian Partners said in a statement that they have corrected the issues from the citation.
“All issues that were raised in the DENR citation have been corrected. We have regular DEQ and DENR visits and have a full-time contractor who monitors our site daily.”
The Department of Environmental Quality says the fine has not yet been paid.
