NC shooting kills 12-year-old boy and injures teen

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) -  A 12-year-old boy is dead and another teen was injured following an overnight shooting in Asheville.

Asheville Police said they received a call about victims suffering from gunshot wounds just after 3 a.m. Sunday.

Officers said they found two male victims in Lee Walker Heights.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. The 12-year-old boy died due to his injuries. The teenager was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the victims have not been released at this time.

Police said there are no suspects in custody at this time. Anyone with information should call the Asheville Police Department at (828) 252-1000 or Crime Stoppers at (828) 255-5050.

The investigation is still ongoing.
