According to Amtrak authorities, a person trespassing on railroad tracks in Kenly was struck by a train around 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Amtrak Carolinian train 79 was heading to Charlotte from New York.
There were about 135 passengers and crew members on board. No one was injured.
The train was delayed for just over two hours.
The Amtrak Police Department is working with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released any information regarding the person who was hit.
