Police: Good Samaritan pulls unresponsive man to shore at Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Officers with the Carolina Beach Police Department are investigating after a body washed ashore.

Police were called to respond to reports of a person on the beach Thursday around 10 p.m. near the area of the beach strand and Charlotte Avenue.

According to police, initial reports indicate a good Samaritan pulled an unresponsive man from shallow waters. Emergency officials say they saw no signs of life when they arrived to help.

The official cause of death will be determined by the NC Medical Examiners Office.

Police do not think the death was suspicious in nature.
