Graham’s body right now is at a funeral home in Asheville. It will be brought to the Charlotte area, where he was born, for a private viewing on Saturday.

Some visitors to the Billy Graham library in Charlotte brought flowers that they displayed at the entrance of the library. Many also brought stories of what Graham meant to them.

CBS North Carolina spoke with a pastor who knew Graham and is a part of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

“Billy took a message that could be convicting and he managed to deliver it in a way that was comforting. That’s a real gift to talk about how difficult life is and here’s the plan…To get it from the difficulty of life to the grace that God has,” said Pastor Chris Justice of Lee Park Baptist Church. “It’s hard to say that without coming across as condescending. Billy was able to do it [in a] comforting [way].”

Graham was also a family man and leaves behind five children. His son, Franklin Graham, was in Dallas when he got the news.

“Franklin for the past 20 or so years has made it his practice to visit his father when Franklin was in town in North Carolina, to go visit his father on Sunday afternoons and for lunch,” said Billy Graham Evangelistic Association spokesman Mark DeMoss. “He last did this last Sunday, Feb. 18, which is the last time Franklin would have seen his father.”

DeMoss said Graham’s body will be taken from Asheville to Charlotte on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. The procession is expected to take 3 ½ hours, ending at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte.

There will be many dignitaries from all over the world coming to Charlotte in the coming days.

Graham’s body will lie in repose at the family home in Charlotte for two days – Monday and Tuesday. That will be open to the public.

His funeral will be held at the Billy Graham Library on March 2. It will be private. Invitations to the funeral will be extended to President Donald Trump and former presidents.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON:
