LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) – A Pelion woman has been charged with felony DUI resulting in death after a newborn baby succumbed to injuries sustained in a Feb. 13 crash.

Lexington County officials arrested Andalyn Mills, 32, following the accident and charged her with DUI, but her original charges were upgraded after the infant’s death.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Mills’ Cadillac crossed the center line on Two Notch Road and struck a pick-up truck head-on. The occupants of the truck were a married couple expecting a child, Highway Patrol officials said. They were both wearing seat belts.
The pregnant woman, who went into early labor because of the crash, was taken to a nearby hospital where the baby was delivered and immediately placed on life support, troopers said.
However, the infant was unable to survive and died a few days later on Feb. 16.
Mills’ bond was denied during a hearing on Monday morning.
