SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WNCN) – A retail supply warehouse in Smithfield is still recovering from Hurricane Matthew as the storm left close to 20 inches of rain inside the building.

Friday, the company is recovering in a big way with a hurricane damage sale.
Customers packed inside of Oxbay LLC’s warehouse in Smithfield to try to get their hands on some Christmas and collegiate licensed products.
The company has been planning this hurricane sale for the community for the last 10 days.
It is in hopes of recovering its $1 million loss in retail products.
“Most of these products are damaged a little bit to the point that we don’t want to ship to our customers because there are some water damage and water issues. We are just trying to recuperate what we can with the losses,” said Chad Harris with Oxbay LLC.
Perry Harris with Oxbay said it’s a chance for the company to recoup before figuring out what to do next year.
Oxbay had close to 30 people volunteering to work Friday’s sale.
Clayton resident Nancy Martinez came with her family to get some Christmas supplies and help out a local business rebuild.
“It’s really sad what happened with Hurricane Matthew and how many were affected by it including many businesses,” Martinez said. “This is a great way to give back to the community to be able to help out for their loss. “
Perry Harris still has boxes to go through from the water damages but the communities support is pushing his family and business forward.
“The outpour has kept us going. The people that are willing to help us has been one of the reasons we are being to smile occasionally and continuing to move forward,” Perry Harris said.
The Oxbay sale will continue into Saturday as well as on October 28 and 29.
