2 arrested in SC child porn case

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Jason Evan Down, 46, and Christina Nicole Alderman, 42, of North Charleston on eight charges connected to the exploitation of a minor.

The news release states that the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office made the arrest.

Investigators state both Down and Alderman engaged in the production of child pornography.

Investigators also state Down engaged in sexual activity with a minor and Alderman exposed herself to a minor, Wilson stated.

Down and Alderman were arrested on July 27, and Down is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, first degree, a felony offense punishable by up to twenty years imprisonment on each count; one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third degree; one count of kidnapping, a felony offense punishable by up to thirty years imprisonment; and one count of promoting prostitution of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment, according to the news release.

Alderman is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, first degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment on each count; and one count of exposure of private parts in a lewd and lascivious manner, a misdemeanor offense punishable by up to six months imprisonment, Wilson stated.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.  

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
