Officials are investigating a 72-year-old woman’s death after after a hunting accident in Johnson County.

The hunter says he thought he was shooting at a deer.

Officials say the victim was with her sister.

They don’t know if she herself was hunting as well, but community members near the area are still concerned.

“Just please make sure that you see what you are shooting at. Don’t just shot at anything that moves. I think the deer hunter needs to be real cautious about what he is shooting at make sure it’s a deer,” said resident Charles Karr.

No names or further details about the shooting have been released.

As of now, the hunter has not been arrested, pending the investigation.
