SENECA, S.C. (WSPA) – Seneca Police said one of their patrol cars was hit early Saturday morning by a suspected drunk driver.

Seneca Police Chief John Covington said the driver crashed into the back of a patrol car at about 12:20 a.m. on US-76/US-123.

After hitting the police car, the driver then hit a retaining wall, two cars, and a building, which was Mullen’s Pub, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol and police.

The driver of the car – identified as 36-year-old Harold David Chastain Jr. – was charged with DUI, police said.

Chastain and the police officer were both injured and taken to the hospital.

Covington says the officer received stitches before he was released from the hospital.

The Highway Patrol says one person in the building had minor injuries, as well.

Chastain is being held in the Oconee County Detention Center.
