GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A former Virginia deputy was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to sodomy and incest charges.
Jason Anderson, 47, was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a family member and rape in November. He was immediately terminated by the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office following the allegations.
The Powhatan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1000 block of Huguenot Trail at about 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 19 for a domestic dispute. After deputies further investigated, Anderson was arrested and charged.
CBS 17’s sister station WRIC spoke with Goochland County Sheriff James Agnew shortly after Anderson’s arrest.
“We’re all mortified by this,” Agnew said. “Anderson was here a little over four years. He came to us after having served as a pastor in Maryland and prior to that as a pastor in Fayetteville, Arkansas.”
Anderson also served as a resource officer for Goochland Middle School. Following Anderson’s arrest, Goochland County Public Schools released a statement on social media.
