DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD/WNCN) – A South Carolina woman has been sentenced after a deadly 2018 shooting.

Ella Harrison-Elmore, of Dorchester County, admitted to shooting her husband in the chest while he was mowing their lawn.

The shooting occurred in front of one of their children following a domestic altercation.

Harrison-Elmore was sentenced to 20 years for voluntary manslaughter.

Darren Elmore died in June 2018 after he was shot twice with a shotgun while operating a riding lawnmower, according to the Times and Democrat of Orangeburg.

The incident report stated that the victim was shot and found in the backyard of the residence and was believed to be unresponsive when authorities arrived at the scene.

Authorities were able to located Harrison-Elmore, then 29, at a home next door where she was detained by deputies, the report said.
