Police looking for driver in Virginia hit-and-run that killed mother of 4

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) - Chesterfield Police are looking for a driver after a mother of four children was hit and killed early Sunday morning.

"The way they hit her, they hit her so hard," said Rayquel Allen, who lives in the area and witnessed the scene shortly after. "The way it looked ... it was just sad."

Officers say 30-year-old Selena Galvan-Santos was walking in the road near her home in the 600 Block of Chinaberry Drive at about 3:20 a.m. when she was hit by a car.

Galvan-Santos was a mother of four, according to Chesterfield Police.

"I don't know what it was," Allen said. "The body on the ground just looked ... crazy, it was terrible."

Allen said she also saw a man crying near Galvan-Santos.

"He was really sad, he had on a blanket. I wouldn't ... I only know how he probably feels."

Galvan-Santos was taken the Chippenham Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Allen believes there's a strong chance this could happen again.

"They keep it dark out there," Allen said. "They don't have any lights or nothing, no street lights. You see how they're turning now, you cannot see anything."

The driver left the scene. The striking vehicle is described as a dark-colored foreign-made sedan with a partial license plate containing the numbers “417”.

The investigation has revealed that unknown persons had driven through the area of this crash immediately after it occurred. Investigators are interested in speaking with the unknown individuals.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to come forward. Call 804-748-1251, Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660, or submit a tip through the P3 App.
