VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – One person was detained after a BB gun was fired at a Virginia school bus, police say.

Tonya Pierce, a spokesperson with Virginia Beach Police, said officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Maxey Drive, between Laskin Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard, just before 7 a.m.

The incident happened on Riddle Avenue, but police said the bus stopped on Maxey Drive.

There were students on board the bus, but Pierce said no one was injured. Glass was broken on the school bus in the incident.

A spokesperson with Virginia Beach City Public Schools said the bus was headed to First Colonial High School at the time of the incident. Another bus picked up the students and transported them to the school.

It was not immediately clear whether the person detained would face charges.
