LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida deputies were able to catch two suspects in a burglary after their truck got stuck in mud during the getaway.

Deputies say 26-year-old Dylan Walsh and 48-year-old Michelle Massenburg were involved in the burglary that happened early Wednesday morning in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. Arrest reports say a third person was also involved but that person has not been identified.

The three individuals drove a U-Haul box truck and backed it up to a building on Hawks Landing Drive around 4 a.m., according to an arrest report. Deputies say the unidentified person then got out of the truck, opened the garage door and started removing cabinets.

Arrest reports say Walsh, Massenburg and the third person were at the scene for about 20 minutes. The unidentified person was the only one to go in the garage, the report notes.

Deputies say about $3,500 worth of cabinets were loaded into the U-Haul. The three then tried to drive away, but the U-Haul got stuck in mud. The arrest reports say they tried several times to get the U-Haul free but eventually gave up and left the scene.

About an hour later, deputies say Massenburg and Walsh came back to the scene to get some of their things from the cab of the U-Haul. According to the arrest reports, neither of them tried to return the stolen items to the garage.

During an interview with deputies, both Massenburg and Walsh said they didn’t know they were going to the building to steal anything. They told deputies they “became aware of what was going on when they backed the U-Haul up to the garage.”

Deputies say neither of them tried at any point to notify law enforcement of the theft, stop the theft, or return the stolen items.

Both Massenburg and Walsh are facing charges for burglary and grand theft.
