ROCKBRIDGE, Va. (WFXR/WNCN) – A car hauler carrying brand-new Tesla vehicles was involved in a wreck on Interstate 81 northbound in Augusta County.
According to the Raphine Volunteer Fire Company, one car came off of the top of the hauler during the crash Friday at mile marker 210.
There were no injuries, but the truck driver told CBS 17 that one of his dogs ran off into the highway and died after being hit by a vehicle following the crash.
The driver of the truck also said that the driver’s side front-tire blowout caused the wreck.
The driver managed to keep the hauler from hitting other vehicles as the semi went off the highway and into mud.
The accident closed down the right shoulder, according to VDOT, causing traffic backups of nearly 5 miles.
