ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. (WNCN) – One person was bitten by a shark at Atlantic Beach on Saturday afternoon.

Atlantic Beach Police Chief Jeff Harvey told WNCT that an 18 year old male suffered bites to his hands and wrist from a three foot shark.RELATED: Shark takes a bite out of SC surfer’s board

The incident happened in three feet deep water.

WITN-TV reported the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. just west of the Atlantic Beach Circle.

The victim was transported to the Carteret General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
