VIDEO: Baby left on Ohio train when father steps out to smoke

CLEVELAND  (CBS NEWSPATH) – A father left his baby on the train when he stepped out to smoke.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority released surveillance video on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Jan. 12.

The surveillance video released by a Cleveland transit authority shows the man adjusting a baby carrier and looking around before exiting the train to smoke a cigarette. The train leaves the station, and shows the passenger near the baby carrier run to the door as the train started moving trying to get someone’s attention.

The baby’s father is also frantically chasing  the train once it leaves the station with his baby on board.

According to transit officials, the train’s driver learned about the baby on board before it arrived at the next station, which was about a minute away.

Transit authority officials responded quickly after learning what happened and returned to the station where the father was reunited with the child
