VIDEO: Damage seen after tornado touchdown reported at NC coast

SWAN QUARTER, N.C. (WNCT/WNCN) – Deputies reported a possible tornado touchdown in Swan Quarter Friday afternoon.

The Hyde County Sheriff’s Office said the affected areas were Main Street, Quarter Road, and Bridgman Road.

Deputies, the Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department, and Emergency Management are all in the area assessing the damage and checking on residents.

No injuries have been reported. There was damage to power poles and farm shops.

Tideland EMC reported that there were power outages in the area and in three other nearby counties after storms hit.

The National Weather Service said Friday night they will send an assessment team to determine if the damage was actually the result of a tornado, gustnado, or straight-line winds.
