HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A man and woman face charges after their 3-year-old son was found alone in woods nearly a mile from his home during a multi-agency search, Henry County deputies said.

William Ryan, 30, and Tammy Stowe, 27, were arrested Wednesday following an incident reported just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. Both face charges of felony child neglect and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The boy was found around 3 a.m. Wednesday in a wooded area near Evergreen Drive near Spencer, deputies said. The boy was found about 3/4 mile from his home, deputies said.

Deputies said the boy’s father, Ryan, called 911 to ask for help searching for his son, who had been missing for about 30 minutes. Multiple agencies and volunteers responded to help with the search, deputies said.

The boy’s parents were charged after investigators developed information during the investigation, deputies said.

Ryan was held without bond in the Henry County Jail, while Stowe was released on $3,000 bail.

No other information was immediately released.
