Activists gather in Raleigh to remind people to register and vote

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - With Election Day right around the corner,  activists gathered in downtown Raleigh to remind North Carolinians to cast their ballots.

They passed out information on polling site locations and early voting.

CBS 17 spoke with one young woman who just turned 18 and is looking forward to voting for the first time.

"As a child, you know, we're always told that there's certain things that we can't do because we're not an adult yet," said Efhe Ikharo. "As an 18-year-old this is something that is really important and it's important to spread the word out there. Let people know the importance of registering to vote, coming out to vote, especially because of where we are in our society politically."

Early voting begins on October 17 and ends on November 3.

Election Day is November 6.
