RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - The Carolina Hurricanes announced Tuesday afternoon their roster ahead of Thursday's regular-season opener against the New York Islanders.
A release said that goaltender Scott Darling has been placed on injured reserve. He suffered a lower-boyd injury during Sunday's preseason finale against the Nashville Predators. Center Victor Rask is on the team's non-injured list after undergoing surgery on two fingers on his right hand on Sept. 13.
The roster includes 13 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goalies, according to the release.
Centermen Jordan Staal, Lucas Wallmark, Teuvo Terravainen and Martin Necas will dress Thursday against the Islanders. Down the left wing, the Hurricanes will have Phil DiGiuseppe, Warren Foegele, Brock McGhinn, Micheal Ferland, and Jordan Martinook. Right wingers include captain Justin Williams, 2018 second-overall draft pick Andrei Svechnikov, Sebastian Aho, and Valentin Zykov.
Carolina's blueliners for opening night will be Justin Faulk, Brett Pesce, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Jaccob Slavin, Haydn Fleury, and offseason acquisitions Calvin de Haan and Dougie Hamilton.
Petr Mrazek is likely to start in net with Curtis McElhinney backing him up.
