CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCN) – The Carolina Panthers have re-signed Eric Reid and will play in Charlotte through the 2021 season, the team announced Monday.
Reid was an unrestricted free agent prior to signing the 3-year deal with the Panthers.
He joined Carolina in Week 4 of the 2018 season by signing a 1-year deal.
The Panthers said he started all 13 games played and recorded 73 tackles, five passes defended, one interception and one sack in 2018.
He was a first-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2013 out of LSU.
Reid remained unsigned since his own rookie contract expired in March 2018 with the 49ers.
He filed a claim this spring after visiting with Cincinnati, arguing he was unsigned as a result of collusion by NFL owners over his protests of police brutality and racial inequality by kneeling during the national anthem.
