NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WNCN) – Duke quarterback Daniel Jones was drafted sixth overall by the New York Giants in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

Jones was the second quarterback taken after No. 1 pick Kyler Murray, of Oklahoma.

Jones threw for 2,674 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior this past season. The mobile signal caller also ran for 319 yards and three more touchdowns.

In his Blue Devils career, Jones totaled 8,201 passing yards and 52 touchdowns in addition to another 1,323 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground.

Jones helped Duke to back-to-back winning seasons the past two years. This past campaign saw the Blue Devils climb as high as No. 22 in the AP poll.

Jones’ career ended with an MVP performance in a 56-27 win over Temple in the Independence Bowl and MVP accolades in the Senior Bowl.
