Duke stud Zion Williamson, projected No. 1 pick, declares for NBA Draft

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) - Zion Williamson announced on his Instagram page Monday evening that he has declared for the NBA Draft.

His announcement comes after fellow freshman Blue Devils Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett announced similar intentions, also via Instagram.

Williamson is projected by many to be the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The AP Player of the Year, Naismith Award, and Wooden Award winner averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.

Williamson suffered a knee injury when his shoe exploded in the opening minute of Duke's Feb. 20 game against rival North Carolina. He missed five games before returning in the Atlantic Coast Conference game against Syracuse.

Duke's season ended in a 68-67 loss to Michigan State in the Elite 8.
