Duke’s Zion Williamson listed as day-to-day following knee sprain

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Duke’s Zion Williamson is listed as being day-to-day after suffering a knee sprain against UNC-CH Thursday night, the University’s Athletics Department announced. 

The freshman went down 33 seconds into the game when his shoe fell apart as he pivoted. 

Williamson has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right knee sprain.

Williamson is second in the ACC in scoring (21.6), third in rebounds (8.8) and leads the conference in field goal percentage (.683) and steals (2.2). 

Duke quickly fell behind against the Tar Heels following Williamson’s exit. 

No. 8 UNC topped No. 1 Duke 88-72. 

Duke travels to Syracuse on Saturday for a 6 p.m. tipoff on ESPN.
