CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN)– Haley Gorecki scored a season-high 28 points as Duke downed UNC Thursday night in Chapel Hill.

Gorecki collected her fourth straight double-double, adding 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one blocked shot.

Duke (11-11, 3-7) started hot, scoring the first 5 points of the game to go up 12-6 at the first media timeout.

But Carolina (14-10, 5-5) came back strong behind an 18-6 run and lead 24-18 after one.

Faith Suggs’ three-pointer sparked a 10-0 Duke run, and the Blue Devils never looked back, going up 40-31 at the break.

UNC would cut the lead several times in the second half, but the Blue Devils outscored the Tar Heels 25-17 late in the game to seal the victory.

Leaonna Odom added 21 points and Miela Goodchild 14 to help pace Duke.

Janelle Bailey finshed with 23 and Taylor Koenen added 12 for the Tar Heels.

Duke travels to Virginia, while UNC visits Clemson for Sunday afternoon contests.
