No. 21 NC State wins baseball opener over Bucknell, 8-2

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN)– The No. 21 NC State Wolfpack opened their 2019 baseball season with a convincing 8-2 win over Bucknell Friday afternoon in Raleigh. 

First baseman Evan Edwards led the Pack 9 with a 3-for-4 performance, finishing a single shy of hitting for the cycle. 

State collected nine hits for the day, and the pitching staff did not issue a walk. 

Jason Parker started for the Wolfpack, pitching five innings to earn the win. Parker struck out four and allowed four hits.  Bucknell starter Jack Gottesman was tagged with the loss for the Bison. 

This is the third consecutive season NC State has won their home opener. 

Game two of the series is Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Doak Field at Dail Park.
