There wasn’t much to separate Middle Creek and Fuquay-Varina, which is easy to imagine for two rivals that know each other so well. The Mustangs were just a bit better in a 23-18 win Friday that marked their first conference win of the year and 11th consecutive win over the Bengals.
Fuquay-Varina quarterback Parker Morrison rolled to his left and lobbed a touchdown pass Jacob Braswell into the corner of the end zone. Middle Creek answered with a scoring toss of their own when Sean Brown hit Sherrod Ray in perfect stride down the sideline.
After Fuquay-Varina hit pay dirt again, the Mustangs resorted to little bit of trickery when halfback Joey Maya hit Tharius Suggs for a touchdown.
Middle Creek used three second-half field goals to pick up the win. The Mustangs improve to 4-3 while the Bengals fall to 4-2.
