Middle Creek needs overtime to beat Knightdale, advance

The Blitz

Playoff football is often a game of inches. That was the case Friday at Middle Creek as the Mustangs, thanks to a little luck, squeaked out an overtime win, 23-17, against Knightdale to advance to the second round.

Although, in the second half, it looked like the Knights had Lady Luck in their corner. Senior CJ Sanders intercepted a tipped pass. Then, on the ensuing drive, Camron Spellings’ pass was intended for one receiver, but Evan McCray got his hands on the tipped ball.

Middle Creek, down a touchdown, reached into its bag of tricks. Sean Brown threw to Sean Horton, who hurled it down to Dylan Fabiszak for the tying touchdown
