The Week 1 nominees for The Blitz Play of the Week are:

Terry Sanford’s Dante Bowlding one-handed interception. Bowlding’s pick helped keep one of the area’s most thrilling games of the week close throughout. Fuquay-Varina scored a touchdown with 31 seconds left to sneak out of Fayetteville with the win.

Wake Forest halfback pass from Keishmund Rodgers to Traevon Kenion. Rodgers, Kenion, and the rest of the Cougars were relentless in their season opener as they went to Millbrook and thumped the Wildcats, 51-0. 

Dominic Carlucci (Cardinal Gibbons) fights through tackles for a big gain. Carlucci’s run wasn’t for a touchdown, but Cardinal Gibbons had no shortage of trips to the end zone.  The Crusaders breezed past Athens Drive, 49-10,
