Terry Sanford uses 2nd-half shutout to stave off Douglas Byrd on homecoming

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) - A second-half shutout and 13 fourth-quarter points to hold off Douglas Byrd, 26-14, on homecoming Friday.

The visiting Eagles looked not only to spoil homecoming, but also to level their Patriot Conference record at 2-2. It looked good early when senior Ronald Carroll used his strength to deter defenders. He knocked down two Terry Sanford players with a stiff arm on one play, then was the lead blocker on a Earlee Melvin touchdown run on the next play.

The Bulldogs got on the board after falling behind 14-0. Senior Lennard Mosley ripped off a 62-yard touchdown run that seemed to be the catalyst for Terry Sanford.
